His grandfather emigrated from Spain to Jarra, and through him Guimarães has Spanish citizenship. Guimarães made his debut with Audax. on 9 April 2015, aged just 17, by playing the last three minutes in a 2–1 Campeonato Paulista away win against Bragantino.
