ストリートミュージシャン出身のフォークデュオのパイオニア的存在で、1997年頃から始まった第2次路上ライブムーブメントの先駆けとされる。路上時代は主に神奈川県横浜市中区伊勢佐木町の横浜松坂屋前で路上ライブを行っていた。1996年3月結成。結成後すぐにオリジナル曲を作る。最初は客はほとんどいなかったが、1年ぐらいしたときに初めてリクエストしてくる客が現れた。路上の最終日（1998年8月30日）は、台風直撃にもかかわらず、約7,500人が集まった。
